    Description

CANNON AMMUNITION Stand of Grape Replica WORLDWIDE SHIP
    Replica Stand of Grape Shot
This Civil War and earlier-era projectile is made of iron grape shot.  The iron grapes are  stacked in a "stand" and held in place by outer rings. Metal plates are bolted on both ends.  The hemp rope
is attached to the top plate for ease in transportation and loading.
This cylindrical assembly was pushed into the tube of a cannon and fired. The force of the cannon's blast would hurl the grapes toward the enemy.  These were commonly used by the Navy to take down masts and riggings during sea battles between opposing ships.
    This auction is for a
    replica
Stand of Grape.  This replica was made in the USA and weighs 11 pounds.
This is a popular item to add to all War Collections.
