Incredible display appeal & quality as a piece of Historic Americana.  Super rare item, we did not find an exact match for it, but it is clearly labeled Burke & James Ingento as is the Lens on front.  This seems to be from 1900-1910 time frame or so based on style and it's intended use but could a few years either way perhaps.  The old slide projectors (magic lanterns) were beginning to to wane in popularity by the 1910's as a primary source of entertainment as technologies began to surpass them in the 1920's with film emerging to take over the public's attention.  We found some later electrified versions of projectors from Burke & James, but ours appears to have been adaptable perhaps for electric, candle, oil or other as it is roof vented but it also has mounting bracket and refactor lens within it as well.  That may explain it's scarcity as it was a transitional machine.
The light seen in pictures was just an old light we inserted for photographing purposes and it is
    not
included in sale, but it's easy to find something to work as the case is large enough for a number of lamp or light types.  We are very skilled at researching items (but not perfect of course) and we have not found an exact match for our projector going back through 30 years of research data from auctions, collectors, eBay sources, museums and other.  But someone out there may know more than us and we are pretty sure a few exist somewhere.
Burke & James Chicago (1897-1981) was a long time leading manufacturer of camera, optics, photography and imaging equipment with vast operations expanding out from Chicago for most of the 1900's.  Much more of the company's history can be found online.
This projector is in very nice condition, actually exceptional for it's age in our opinion.  We only dusted it off, and will leave detailed cleaning to buyers as some people prefer the patina.  We think the middle lens holder & some movable base parts may be nickle plated brass or other, but we are not 100% certain.  The main black portions of the light case area are a thinner steel plate we think.  It is very solid and appears mostly complete.  It has very thick double lens that sit in middle of projector as shown in pictures and they are in really nice condition with just some tarnish to the middle lens frames.  The front copper colored lens is a 9" Ingento Burke & James (some of these lens sell into the hundreds alone).  The middle red adjustable accordion section seems very nice, but we only moved it in and out a few times to take pictures.  The case has several areas for length adjustment.  We adjusted it out to about 26", but it appears it could be extended even more.  Compressed, it is roughly 16" in length.  Its about 6" Wide and 12" High and just under 12 lbs.
Lots of moving and adjustable parts to piece.  The top chimney stack area can be removed as well as the back panel and side panel with blue window button.   This has a ton of adjustment options from the front lens, to the slide bars on the bottom.  This is likely due to its portability and need for different distant adjustments at varying locations.
Please review all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom feature if needed and let us know if you have any questions.
Great addition for a collection, museum or display piece in any antiqued room.  Wish we had some slides to go with with it, but perhaps you already do.
