Introduction
Over the last few decades renewable energy has started to gain its ground. Of all the different kinds of alternative energy sources available, the use of wind power has been growing steadily. Home owners have since adpoted to DIY wind projects. However, the task of building a wind turbine from ground up is no easy task. Most DIY wind turbines availalbe in the market today have a lot of mechanical flaws. Flaws that were never addressed will result in frequent maintenance and headaches, which eventually leads to abandonment / cancelation of the project. Since there are a lot of room for imporovment, we have designed a new wind turbine - the Patriot to bring things up to par. To name a few, Anti vibration system to increase power efficiency. Why do we need a Dump Load?
As we all know, wind turbines are designed to operate in a loaded situation so it can generate power to either the battery / the grid. It is, however, not designed to operate under a no load (open circuit) situation because doing so will put a lot of strain on the wind turbine components and speeds out the wear out process which will eventually will lead the turbine to self destruct. Therefore, a dump load is required to burn out the extra energy when the battery is full OR when the grid is out. Because of this, a dump load is also known as a "diversion load".
This dump load is designed to work with GreenergyStar SolarWind Hybrid RX Charge Controller. It will work with the Apollo & Patriot Wind Turbines as well.
